As we move through the summer season, it’s a good time to review and strengthen our home and personal security measures. Criminal activity often shifts patterns during this time, and being proactive is the best way to safeguard your family and property.
Home Security Essentials
- Verify your gate motor security: Gate motor theft remains a recurring issue. Ensure your motor is secured with an anti-theft bracket and that the motor is not easily accessible from outside the perimeter.
- Test your alarm system: Monthly testing of your alarm, including the panic buttons and battery backup, is highly recommended. Ensure your rapid response company receives your test signal correctly.
- Clear overgrown vegetation: Trim shrubs and trees near fences or entrances that could provide cover for intruders. Maintain a clear "line of sight" for both yourself and your neighbors.
Personal Vigilance
Always be aware of your surroundings when entering or leaving your property. If you notice a vehicle following you, or if someone is loitering near your gate, drive past and circle the block or head to the nearest police station while notifying the CPF radio network.
Stay safe and remain vigilant. A prepared community is a safer community.
